Opened on 06.06.2013. Children's Art School No. 1 in Penza is one of the first art schools in Russia. The year of its foundation was 1945 - the year of the Victory of the Soviet people over fascism in the Great Patriotic War.

For 40 years the museum has been headed by honoured art worker V. P. Sazonov. Nowadays the collection of the museum has over 14 thousands article of art, decorative and applied arts, works of painters of the Penza art school.

The most popular art gallery in Penza is also well-known beyond the borders of the Penza region. The first collection of the gallery was built up in 1892, on the money left in the will of the governor Nikolay Seliverstov, who also funded the establishment of the Art School in Penza (now Savitsky College of Arts).

Graduated from the Penza Art School named after I. K. A. Savitsky (1958), Moscow Polygraphic Institute (1963).
