The Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS) was established in 1990 by the State Government to assist Victoria’s best athletes achieve national and international success. The VIS is a private trustee company with a Board of Directors appointed directly by the Victorian Minister for Sport.

The Victorian Institute of Sport is located at Lakeside Stadium, Albert Park, allowing high-performance athletes to live and train at Melbourne’s world-class sporting facilities. More than 400 athletes – with and without disability – from a range of sports receive high-performance services through scholarship programs.
