Philip R. Goodwin (September 16, 1881 – December 14, 1935) was an American painter and illustrator who specialized in depictions of wildlife, the outdoors, fishing, hunting and the Old American West.

In 1939, Goodwin, a member of The Museum of Modern Art's Board of Trustees and an architect practicing in the traditional Beaux-Arts style, teamed with Stone, an ardent modernist, to create a building appropriate to the Museum's mission.
Phillip R. Goodwin. 1881–1935. As a young boy in Norwich, Connecticut, art consumed Philip R. Goodwin, and he sketched constantly. Like so many other successful illustrators who were child prodigies, he sold his first illustration at eleven years old.
