Chris Newman (born 30 October 1952) is a British acoustic guitarist and mandolinist, noted for his work as a soloist, as the partner of the Irish harper Máire Ní Chathasaigh, as a member of the Irish-English band, Heartstring Sessions, and with his own band, The Chris Newman Trio.
Christopher Newman (born 18 May 1982) is the coach of the Box Hill Hawks in the Victorian Football League and a former player with the Richmond Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was drafted at pick 55 in the 2000 national draft from the Dandenong Stingrays in the TAC Cup.
As Fred’s Musical Director and bandleader, appearances on such iconic national TV progammes as BBC’s Top of the Pops and Pebble Mill at One, and ITV's Tiswas, followed. In the mid-1980s, Chris was bandleader and Musical Director for the French tours of Cornish singer Brenda Wootton - a big star in France at the time.
