Russell David Johnson (November 10, 1924 – January 16, 2014) was an American actor. He played Professor Roy Hinkley in Gilligan's Island and Marshal Gib Scott in Black Saddle.
Russell Johnson (1924-2014) was a versatile actor who appeared in Westerns, Sci-Fi and comedy shows. He also served in World War II as a bombardier and received the Purple Heart. He is best known for playing the Professor on Gilligan's Island (1964).

He was 89. Johnson died Thursday morning at his home in Washington State of natural causes, said his agent, Mike Eisenstadt.
