Sanford Koufax ( / ˈkoʊfæks / KO-fax; né Braun; born December 30, 1935), nicknamed " the Left Arm of God ", is an American former baseball pitcher who played 12 seasons in Major League Baseball for the Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers from 1955 to 1966.
One of the most dominating pitchers in the game's history, Koufax was the first Major Leaguer to pitch four no-hitters, including a perfect game . He was the youngest player (age 36) and the first pitcher inducted into the Hall of Fame (1972) who had more strikeouts than innings pitched .
