Clay Morgan Shepherd (born October 12, 1941) is an American retired professional stock car racing driver and current team owner. He last competed part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 89 Chevrolet Camaro for Shepherd Racing Ventures.
When it comes to racing, Morgan can do it all. However, racing is not all there is to Morgan Shepherd. Morgan is a devout Christian who runs a ministry and the Morgan Shepherd Charitable Fund which helps families in need. Shepherd Racing Ventures is set to run the full 2016 NASCAR Xfinity Series schedule of 33 races.
After running two races in 1978, Shepherd moved to the Cup Series full-time in 1981, driving the #5 Performance Connection Pontiac for Cliff Stewart. He won the pole in his first race at Richmond International Raceway, and also picked up his first career win at Martinsville Speedway.
