Sigmund Eisner (February 14, 1859 – January 5, 1925) was a prominent manufacturer and president of the Sigmund Eisner Company based in Red Bank, New Jersey. At one time (1922), this company was the exclusive manufacturer of uniforms for the Boy Scouts of America and the largest manufacturer of uniforms in the United States.
Sigmund Eisner (1920–2012) was an American scholar of medieval literature. A professor emeritus at the University of Arizona , he was a noted expert on Geoffrey Chaucer and was frequently consulted on matters of astronomy in Chaucer.
The Eisner Foundation was started in 1996 by Michael D. Eisner, then-Chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company, and his wife Jane in order to focus their family’s philanthropic activities. The Sigmund Eisner Company in Red Bank, New Jersey—at the time, the largest uniform manufacturer in the United States—provided all of the official uniforms for the Boy Scouts of America for decades.
