Karl Amadeus Hartmann (2 August 1905 – 5 December 1963) was a German composer. Sometimes described as the greatest German symphonist of the 20th century, he is now largely overlooked, particularly in English-speaking countries.
On December 5 Karl Amadeus Hartmann dies from the consequences of cancer, he is buried in Munich’s Waldfriedhof; his home at Franz-Joseph-Straße 20 (Munich) in Schwabing is now the headquarters of the Karl Amadeus Hartmann Center. Download Biography.
