Gordon Frederick Cummins (18 February 1914 – 25 June 1942) was a British serial killer known as the Blackout Killer, the Blackout Ripper and the Wartime Ripper, who murdered four women and attempted to murder two others over a six-day period in London in February 1942.

Gordon Cummins was sentenced to death and despite a campaign by his shocked and distressed family, including the Archbishop of Canterbury, to reprieve the death sentence, the Blackout Ripper, who had slain four women in the most vicious, obscene and sadistic manner was finally hung on the 25th June, 1942.

The Blackout Ripper was the pseudonym given to 28-year-old Gordon Frederick Cummins, an English serial killer who murdered four women in London in 1942. The Ripper tag came from similarities with the Jack the Ripper murders as both killers mutilated their victims.
In a strange twist of fate, Cummins was hung during a German air raid. The blackout killer met his end, in a similar atmosphere to his murder victims.
