Ryoo Seung-wan (Korean: 류승완; born December 15, 1973) is a South Korean filmmaker. He made his debut in 1996 with the short film 'Dangerous Head', then worked as a director under director Park Chan-wook, took film lessons, and made his feature film debut in 2000 with Die Bad.

Ryoo Seung-wan è nato nel 1973 a Onyang, una piccola cittadina cinese nel chungcheong meridionale. Un'infanzia difficile. La forte censura del paese, che garantiva ampia visibilità solo ai film di propaganda comunista, ha costretto il regista fin da giovanissimo a optare per film d'azione senza alcun legame con l'attualità della Cina.

Ryoo Seung-wan (n. 1973) ha esordito con l’apprezzato Die Bad (2000), che ha anche rappresentato il debutto del suo fratello minore Ryoo Seung-bum, poi diventato uno degli attori di maggior talento del cinema coreano. Nei vent’anni successivi Ryoo ha diretto dieci lungometraggi e diversi corti.
