Yoshifumi Kondō nasce il 31 Marzo 1950 a Gosen, prefettura di Niigata, Giappone. Nel 1965 riesce ad entrare nel liceo Muramatsu, nella prefettura di Niigata, iscrivendosi al club di arte. Il suo senpai è il futuro mangaka Kimio Yanagisawa.

Kondou, Yoshifumi. Kondo was expected to become one of the top directors at Studio Ghibli. However, he died of an aneurysm in 1998 at 47. His death is said to have been caused by work excess, and seems to be the main reason for Miyazaki's announcement of retirement in 1998.
Kondō naque in Giappone nel 1950 e dedicò gli ultimi anni della sua vita allo Studio Ghibli. E’ stato animatore per Porco Rosso e Pom Poko, disegnatore di Anna dai capelli rossi e Una Tomba per le lucciole, e supervisore dell’animazione per Kiki – Consegne a domicilio e La Principessa Mononoke.
