Louis Aimé Augustin Le Prince, né à Metz le 28 août 1841 et disparu mystérieusement le 16 septembre 1890, est un chimiste, ingénieur et inventeur français, l'un des pionniers du cinéma . Biographie. Enfance. Il est le fils d'un militaire de carrière, officier de la Légion d'honneur, et le frère de l'architecte Albert Leprince.
3Son prénom le plus couramment usité était Augustin. Il ne signait Louis Aimé Augustin que sur les papiers officiels. Sur tous les documents français de l’état civil, Leprince est écrit en un seul mot. Pour des raisons que nous ignorons, notre inventeur écrivait son nom en deux mots : Le Prince.
