The Academy of Music opened its doors in 1857 and has been showcasing some of the world's best artists and performers. Today the theater is widely used for a variety of performances from Broadway to comedians, musicians and orchestras.
The academy provides undergraduate and postgraduate training across instrumental performance, composition, jazz, musical theatre and opera, and recruits musicians from around the world, with a student community representing more than 50 nationalities.
The Academy of Music, also known as American Academy of Music, is a concert hall and opera house located at 240 S. Broad Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Despite its name, the Academy has never contained a music school.

Opened in 1857, The Academy of Music is the oldest opera house in the United States that is still used for its original purpose and it received National Historic Landmark status in 1962.
