Mariette in Ecstasy plot. Mariette Baptiste, daughter of a wealthy doctor, decides to enter the convent where her sister Celine is prioress. Over time, she begins to have hallucinations. When she also incurs strange wounds, chaplain Henri Marriott is convinced that they are so-called stigmata and that Mariette is therefore a saint.
