Heaven Only Knows is a 1947 American Western fantasy film directed by Albert S. Rogell and starring Robert Cummings, Brian Donlevy and Marjorie Reynolds. Produced by German émigré Seymour Nebenzal's Nero Films, it was distributed by United Artists.

Overview. Also released as Montana Mike, Heaven Only Knows is an offbeat western with fantasy overtones. Hard-bitten gambling boss Brian Donlevy rules his frontier community with brawn and bullets. To his dismay, Donlevy discovers that he has a guardian angel (Robert Cummings), who shows up in the guise of an Eastern tenderfoot.
Summaries. An angel is sent to earth to help save the soul of a saloon and gambling house owner. Trade shown, reviewed and released as "Heaven Only Knows," for a short while until the exhibitors (in mostly small town situations) started complaining that customers were staying away in droves because they thought it was a religious film.
