La grande fuga ( The Great Escape) è un film del 1963 diretto da John Sturges . Il film è basato sul libro di Paul Brickhill, pilota australiano della Royal Australian Air Force, il cui Supermarine Spitfire venne abbattuto in Tunisia nel marzo 1943.

Lo Stalag Luft III, campo di prigionia tedesco per tutti i militari delle forze aeronautiche alleate, non è, tutto sommato, un inferno. Niente a che vedere con i famigerati campi di sterminio per ebrei, dissidenti, rom e omosessuali.
Stalag Luft III (German: Stammlager Luft III; literally "Main Camp, Air, III"; SL III) was a Luftwaffe-run prisoner-of-war (POW) camp during the Second World War, which held captured Western Allied air force personnel.
