The Stooge is a 1952 American comedy film directed by Norman Taurog and starring the comedy team of Martin and Lewis alongside Polly Bergen and Marion Marshall. The film was released nationally in the United States in February 1953 by Paramount Pictures.

Il film, girato nel 1951, uscì nelle sale statunitensi solamente il 31 dicembre 1952; in Europa uscì invece tra la primavera e l'estate del 1953.

Il cantante matto è forse il peggior film dell'accoppiata Lewis-Martin. Dean Martin canta troppo, la storia è davvero debole ed il talento del mitico Jerry è qui invisibile tantoché non si ride mai.
Bill dismisses Ben's and Leo's warnings about the difficulties he will face and begins touring with with his bride, singer Mary Turner, at his side. When Bill proves a failure, Leo suggests he hire a stooge, or song plugger, to spice up his act.
