4 giu 2019 · Edouard Molinaro’s “The Hostages,” playing today and tomorrow at the First Avenue Screening Room, is an unusually intelligent action picture, partly because it stresses how dangerous a self-destructive persons can be.The movie is based on a recent case in France.
Made in 1973 and apparently based on true events, Molinaro traces the criminal career of a French gangster culminating in a very high profile hostage situation inside a criminal court of justice. Except for Bulle Ogier who plays the criminal’s wife and complice, the cast was largely unknown to me.
