The regiment's colonel, who admires Dion's bravery and skills, assigns him to be orderly to a green young officer named Lt. Jersey. The Afghans, stirred into action by Hassan Khan and the Russian emissary, who has joined them, soon ambush the British, and casualties are heavy.
British soldiers with veddy stiff upper lips. One (Peter Lawford), a promising young soldier just betrothed to an officer's daughter (Janice Rule) and on the verge of sailing to India, gets framed as a traitor and is court-martialed.
