The Auteurs were a British alternative rock band of the 1990s, and a vehicle for songwriter Luke Haines (guitar, piano and vocals). Several bands influenced by the Auteurs have taken their names from the band's songs.

Che personaggio magnifico Luke Haines, talento indiscutibile e leader degli Auteurs: uno che negli anni del Brit-pop non ci stava per nulla comodo e a suo agio. Ma il ruolo di pecora nera non gli è mai andato affatto stretto o scomodo, tutt’altro.
