William Pulteney, 1st Earl of Bath, PC (22 March 1684 – 7 July 1764) was an English Whig politician and peer who sat in the British House of Commons from 1707 to 1742 when he was raised to the peerage as the Earl of Bath by George II of Great Britain.

Educato all'Eton College, Pulteney iniziò la sua carriera militare come ufficiale nella milizia di Oxford nel 1878. Nel 1881 venne trasferito nelle Scots Guards e prestò servizio in diverse campagne militari in Africa tra cui la Guerra anglo-egiziana e la Seconda guerra boera.
Nelle elezioni del 1741 il Pulteney fu eletto dalla contea di Middlesex e subito riprese la battaglia. Le nuove elezioni del 1741 ridussero ancora la maggioranza ministeriale, che non poté resistere alle critiche rivolte al Walpole per avere assunto la carica di primo ministro, nuova nella storia costituzionale dell'Inghilterra.
