Luther Johnson Strange III (born March 1, 1953) is an American lawyer and politician who served as a United States Senator from Alabama from 2017 to 2018. He was appointed to fill that position after it was vacated by Sen. Jeff Sessions upon Sessions's confirmation as U.S. Attorney General.
Luther Strange (born March 1, 1953, Birmingham, Alabama, U.S.) is an American politician who was appointed as a Republican to the U.S. Senate from Alabama in 2017 and held the office until 2018. He previously served (2011–17) as the state’s attorney general.
Twice elected as Alabamaʼs 49th Attorney General, Strange represented the state in some its biggest cases in recent history, including successfully arguing an important First Amendment case, Lane v Franks, before the United States Supreme Court in 2014.
