University of Latvia. Ināra Mūrniece (born 30 December 1970) is a Latvian journalist, politician and a member of Saeima. She was Speaker of the Saeima from 2014 to 2022. In 2022, she was succeeded in that role by Edvards Smiltēns .
Ināra Mūrniece (dzimusi 1970. gada 30. decembrī) ir latviešu žurnāliste un politiķe. Pārstāv Nacionālo apvienību. Bijusi vairāku Saeimas sasaukumu deputāte un divus Saeimas sasaukumus bijusi Saeimas priekšsēdētāja, kā arī Latvijas Republikas aizsardzības ministre. Ievēlēta arī 14. Saeimā.
Ināra Mūrniece was elected as the Speaker of the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia on 4 November 2014. She represents the National Alliance "All For Latvia!" – "For Fatherland and Freedom/LNNK". She has been a member of the Saeima since 2011.

Mūrniece: Russia’s behavior and nuclear rhetoric is provocative; they use it to compensate for Russia’s weakness in conventional military capabilities. The Ukrainians have a good understanding of Russian thinking and good information, and they doubt that Putin will press the nuclear button.

One of Ināra Mūrniece’s key priorities as the defence minister, which receives most of Minister’s focus, is strengthening of Latvia’s national defence capabilities and speeding up of existing capability development plans.
