Frederick John Robinson, also known as Viscount Goderich and later Earl of Ripon, was a British politician who served as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom for a brief period in 1827.
Frederick John Robinson, I conte di Ripon (Londra, 1º novembre 1782 – Londra, 28 gennaio 1859), è stato un politico britannico. Noto anche col titolo di visconte Goderich, ha fatto parte del Partito Conservatore.
But he was not a successful Prime Minister. He was indecisive and unable to mediate between the formidable personalities in his Cabinet. After a letter pleading ill health, he was dismissed by George IV in January 1828, recovering virtually instantaneously. Goderich was born Frederick John Robinson in 1782.
Liverpool appointed him a Privy Councillor and Vice-President of the Board of Trade, from which point he became a reliable Commons speaker and advisor to Liverpool on economic matters. He was always a moderate, transferring his allegiance in 1822 easily from Castlereagh to Canning.
