Monaghan over the years including the time of the latter’s long battle with cancer which sadly ended with his death in 1954.

He was inducted into the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame in 1992, Buffalo Veteran Boxers Association Ring #44 in 1997 and the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2006.
