George Opdyke (December 7, 1805 – June 12, 1880) was an entrepreneur and the 76th Mayor of New York City (1862 to 1863) during the American Civil War. The New York City draft riots occurred during his tenure.

Opdyke was as ambitious in politics as business and allied himself with Treasury Secretary Salmon P. Chase in his 1860 candidacy and in his abortive 1864 presidential quest. Opdyke himself had previously served in the New York State Legislature.
