William Law (1686 – 9 April 1761) was a Church of England priest who lost his position at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, when his conscience would not allow him to take the required oath of allegiance to the first Hanoverian monarch, King George I.
5 apr 2024 · William Law (born 1686, King’s Cliffe, Northamptonshire, Eng.—died April 9, 1761, King’s Cliffe) was an English author of influential works on Christian ethics and mysticism. He entered Emmanuel College, Cambridge, in 1705 and in 1711 was elected a fellow there and was ordained.
