18 set 2001 · John Wyclif (ca. 1330–84) was one of the most important and authoritative thinkers of the Middle Ages. His activity is set in the very crucial period of late Scholasticism, when the new ideas and doctrines there propounded accelerated the transition to the modern way of thought.
Opere. Dei suoi scritti, i principali sono: De dominio divino (1375); De civili dominio (1375); De veritate scripturae (1378); De Ecclesia (1378); De ordine christiano (1379); De Eucharistia (1379); Trialogus (1382). Notevole anche la produzione filosofica di Wycliffe.
John Wyclif fu considerato la stella della sera della scolastica e la stella del mattino della Riforma inglese. I suoi scritti in latino influenzarono fortemente la filosofia e l'insegnamento del ceco Jan Hus (c. 1369-1415).
