Johann Gerhard (1582-1637) was a Lutheran church leader and theologian during the period of Orthodoxy. He wrote numerous works on exegesis, polemics, dogmatics and practical theology, and was influential in Lutheranism.

13 feb 2024 · An English translation of De natura theologica and De Sacra Scriptura from the Exegesis of Loci theologici. The Exegesis was not part of the original 1610 Jena edition, but was added with the 1657 Frankfurt and Hamburg editon. Edward Preuss also included the Exegesis in his 1863 edition.
The Theological Commonplaces series is the first-ever English translation of Gerhard's monumental Loci Theologici. Gerhard was the premier Lutheran theologian of the early seventeenth century.
