William Hyde Wollaston FRS (/ ˈwʊləstən /; 6 August 1766 – 22 December 1828) was an English chemist and physicist who is famous for discovering the chemical elements palladium and rhodium. He also developed a way to process platinum ore into malleable ingots.

He also made fundamental discoveries in many areas of science and discovered the elements palladium (1802) and rhodium (1804).
Chimico, fisico e fisiologo inglese, nato a East Dereham, Norfolk, il 6 aprile 1766, morto a Londra il 22 dicembre 1828. Figlio di un ecclesiastico, studiò a Cambridge, dove fu eletto fellow del Caius College nel 1787. Praticò dapprima la medicina a Londra, ma nel 1800 ne abbandonò l'esercizio.

Wollaston, William Hyde. Nationality: British. William Hyde Wollaston was born on 6 August 1766, the son of a vicar. He was educated at a private school in Lewisham and at Charterhouse School, before entering Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, in 1782.
