BREWSTER, sir David. Emilio Segré. Fisico inglese, nato a Jedburgh, in Scozia, l'11 dicembre 1781. Dal 1793 studiò teologia nell'università di Edimburgo e nel 1804 entrò nella Chiesa scozzese, da cui però si ritirò tosto, per occuparsi di matematica e fisica. Il suo primo lavoro d'ottica è del 1813.
