Michele Karen Dougherty CBE FRS FRAS (born 1962) is a Professor of Space Physics at Imperial College London. She is leading unmanned exploratory missions to Saturn and Jupiter and is Principal Investigator for J-MAG – a magnetometer for the European Space Agency's Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer, launched in April 2023.

I am a professor of space physics at the Imperial College in London. I was the Principal Investigator (PI) for the magnetometer instrument on NASA's Cassini spacecraft. In that role, I was responsible for managing a team of about 40 scientists, and an operations team as well, to make sure we did good science with the data from this instrument.
21 lug 2023 · Professor Dougherty was principal investigator for the magnetometer on the exploratory Cassini mission to Saturn and now holds the same role for the European Space Agency’s JUICE Jupiter moon orbiting project, which launched in April 2023 and is expected to arrive in the Jupiter system by 2032.
