John Flamsteed (Denby, 19 agosto 1646 – Greenwich, 12 gennaio 1719) è stato un astronomo inglese. Fu il promotore della costruzione dell' Osservatorio di Greenwich , di cui divenne il primo direttore.
John Flamsteed FRS (19 August 1646 – 31 December 1719) was an English astronomer and the first Astronomer Royal. His main achievements were the preparation of a 3,000-star catalogue, Catalogus Britannicus, and a star atlas called Atlas Coelestis, both published posthumously.

John Flamsteed (born Aug. 19, 1646, Denby, near Derby, Derbyshire, Eng.—died Dec. 31, 1719, Greenwich, London) was the founder of the Greenwich Observatory, and the first astronomer royal of England. Poor health forced Flamsteed to leave school in 1662.

23 mag 2018 · Flamsteed, John (1646–1719). Flamsteed was the first astronomer-royal. He was born near Derby and educated there. Handicapped by ill-health, he began astronomical observations and in 1675 was placed on a panel to investigate claims to ascertain longitude at sea.
