Richard Dedekind. Julius Wilhelm Richard Dedekind, nato il 6 ottobre 1831 a Braunschweig (o Brunswick, attualmente in Germania), è noto per i suoi contributi in Algebra astratta, Teoria dei numeri e la definizione di numero reale. Nel 1848 si iscrisse al Collegium Carolinum di Braunschweig e nel ‘50 si spostò all’Università di Göttingen.
