Hereward the Wake was a British television series, which was produced by the BBC in 1965, and was broadcast weekly on BBC1. It was based on the 1866 novel by Charles Kingsley. Alfred Lynch played the title role.
Hereward, son of Duke Leofric and Lady Godiva, fought a long and ultimately hopeless guerilla war against the invading forces of William the Conqueror in the fens of Lincolnshire, betrayed not only by his allies but by his own weaknesses. Stars. Alfred Lynch.

Anglo-Norse nobleman Hereward Leofricsson (Alfred Lynch) is a wildly undisciplined young roisterer who is the despair of his stern and upright father Earl Leofric (Tony Steedman), and even more so of his mother, the saintly Lady Godiva of Coventry (Dorothy Reynolds).
