Johann Zoffany. Pittore tedesco che, raggiunta la notorietà in Inghilterra presso la famiglia reale, arrivò a Firenze nell'estate del 1772 su incarico della regina Carlotta. Johann Zoffany nacque nel 1733 a Francoforte sul Meno. Si formò a Roma e, ritornato in Germania, diventò pittore di corte del Grande Elettore di Treviri.
