Gustave Doré, né le 6 janvier 1832 à Strasbourg et mort le 23 janvier 1883 à Paris, dans son hôtel de la rue Saint-Dominique, est un illustrateur, caricaturiste, peintre, lithographe et sculpteur français. Son œuvre d'illustratrateur fut reconnue dans le monde entier de son vivant comme l'une des plus importantes du siècle.
