Max Jacob (1876-1944), anticonformista e irrequieto, amico di Picasso, Derain e G. Apollinaire, fu tra gli animatori della bohème di Montmartre all'inizio del secolo. Nelle sue opere burlesche e fantasiose si passa dai giochi di parole alle immagini oniriche, dalla beffa al nonsense, dall'ironia alla mistificazione.
