The final two posts will be summaries of my research on the background of the poem, its connection to Arthurian legend (also called the Matter of Britain), and what it tells us about storytelling.

His words “Their’s not to make reply, / Their’s not to reason why, / Their’s but to do and die” echo the unquestionable obedience and stoic heroism of the participants.
