John Crowe Ransom (April 30, 1888 – July 3, 1974) was an American educator, scholar, literary critic, poet, essayist and editor. He is considered to be a founder of the New Criticism school of literary criticism.

Poeta e critico americano, nato a Pulask, Tennessee, il 30 aprile 1888. Laureatosi presso la Vanderbilt University nel 1909, insegnò per ventiquattro anni presso la stessa università, donde nel 1937 passò al Kenyon College.
