John Morton (1725 – April 1, 1777) was an American farmer, surveyor, and jurist from the Province of Pennsylvania and a Founding Father of the United States. As a delegate to the Continental Congress during the American Revolution, he was a signatory to the Continental Association and Declaration of Independence.
John Morton (c. 1420 – 15 September 1500) was an English cleric, civil lawyer and administrator during the period of the Wars of the Roses. He entered royal service under Henry VI and was a trusted councillor under Edward IV and Henry VII.

12 nov 2023 · John Morton was the first Signer of the Declaration of Independence to die. He died on April 1, 1777, not even a year after the Declaration of Independence was signed. Even though that seems to be what he is most known for, he did quite a bit to help the cause of Independence.
