John Harold Kander (born March 18, 1927) is an American composer, known largely for his work in the musical theater. As part of the songwriting team Kander and Ebb (with lyricist Fred Ebb ), Kander wrote the scores for 15 musicals, including Cabaret (1966) and Chicago (1975), both of which were later adapted into acclaimed films.

John Kander est un compositeur et scénariste américain né le 18 mars 1927 à Kansas City, Missouri (États-Unis), dont les œuvres les plus connues, en collaboration avec le parolier Fred Ebb, sont les comédies musicales Cabaret et Chicago ainsi que la chanson New York, New York, extraite du film du même nom.
Cabaret is an American musical with music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and a book by Joe Masteroff. It is based on the 1951 play I Am a Camera by John Van Druten, which in turn was based on the 1939 novel Goodbye to Berlin by Christopher Isherwood .
