A continent is any of several large geographical regions. Continents are generally identified by convention rather than any strict criteria. A continent could be a single landmass or a part of a very large landmass, as in the case of Asia or Europe.

This is a list of the world's countries and their dependencies by land, water, and total area, ranked by total area. The entries in this list include, but are not limited to, those in the ISO 3166-1 standard, which includes sovereign states and dependent territories .
A continent is a large area of the land on Earth that is joined. There are no strict rules for what land is considered a continent, but in general it is agreed there are six continents in the world, including Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Europe, America and Oceania (or Australia).
