Stephen Poliakoff CBE, FRSL (born 1 December 1952) is a British playwright, director and screenwriter. In 2006 Gerard Gilbert of The Independent described him as the UK's "pre-eminent TV dramatist" who had "inherited Dennis Potter 's crown".

Stephen's television series Close To The Enemy was transmitted with great success on BBC Two in November/December 2016. His latest show Summer of Rockets premiered on BBC Two in May 2019, receiving critical and audience acclaim. It is still available to watch on the BBC iPlayer. Stephen was awarded a CBE for his contribution to the arts in 2007.
