Taunton (/ ˈ t ɔː n t ən /) is the county town of Somerset, England. It is a market town and has a minster church. Its population in 2011 was 64,621. Its thousand-year history includes a 10th-century monastic foundation, Taunton Castle, which later became a priory.
Taunton is a city and county seat of Bristol County, Massachusetts, United States. Taunton is situated on the Taunton River, which winds its way through the city on its way to Mount Hope Bay, 10 miles (16 km) to the south. At the 2020 census, the city had a population of 59,408.
Taunton [ˈtɔːntən] ist der Hauptort und Verwaltungssitz der Unitary Authority Somerset in England. Der Ort liegt im Taunton-Deane-Tal und ist von den Hügeln der Quantock Hills, Black Downs und Brendons umgeben. Die Gründung erfolgte im Jahr 710 durch den angelsächsischen König Ine.
