2 giu 2020 · Synopsis: The Ghost tells Hamlet a tale of horror. Saying that he is the spirit of Hamlet’s father, he demands that Hamlet avenge King Hamlet’s murder at the hands of Claudius. Hamlet, horrified, vows to “remember” and swears his friends to secrecy about what they have seen. Enter Ghost and Hamlet. HAMLET.
GHOST. I’m the ghost of your father, doomed for a certain time to walk the earth at night. During the day, I’m confined in the fires of purgatory, until those flames have burned away the sins I committed in my life.
AMLETO. Pace, pace, travagliato spirito! — Così, signori, io commetto a voi con tutta l’affezione che vi porto; e tutto quello che un uomo sì povero, come Amleto, potrà fare per esprimervi il suo affetto e la sua amicizia, Dio permettendolo, non mancherà.
