Michael Cretu o Curly M.C., pseudonimo di Mihai Crețu, è un musicista rumeno naturalizzato tedesco, noto per esser stato il marito e produttore della cantante pop Sandra e fondatore del progetto musicale Enigma negli anni novanta.
Michael Cretu (Romanian: Mihai Crețu, pronounced [miˈhaj ˈkretsu]; born 18 May 1957) is a Romanian-born German musician, composer and record producer. He gained worldwide fame as the founder and musician behind the musical project Enigma, which he formed in 1990.
Enigma is a German musical project founded in 1990 by Romanian-German musician and producer Michael Cretu. Cretu had released several solo records, collaborated with various artists, and produced albums for his then-wife, German pop singer Sandra, before he conceived the idea of a new-age, worldbeat project.
Il trio rimase in attività dal 1978 al 1984, quando Sandra incontrò Michael Cretu in una sala di registrazione; i due si innamorarono e decisero di andare a vivere insieme a Monaco di Baviera, Germania, dove Michael era sotto contratto con l'etichetta Virgin.
Michael Cretu ist ein rumänisch-deutscher Musiker und Musikproduzent. Er stand selbst als Künstler auf der Bühne, wirkt jedoch meist als Komponist und Produzent im Hintergrund, unter anderem für Sandra, Peter Cornelius und Enigma.
