The FEI Show Jumping World Cup is an annual international competition among the world’s best show jumping horses and riders. The series, created in 1978, today comprises 14 leagues on all continents. The best riders from 132 preliminary competitions qualify for the final.
The Show Jumping competition at the 2006 WEG in Aachen. The World Show Jumping Championships, or the show jumping competition at the FEI World Equestrian Games, was started in 1953, with individual competition. In 1978 Team competitions began, and men and women began competing against one another.

Show jumping is an equestrian event that uses English riding. The rider and horse must complete an obstacle course under the rules of the International Federation of Equestrian sports. The sport was born in the 18th century by fox hunters when England introduced fencing laws.

However, what we do know is that Dublin staged jumping competitions in 1865, Paris in 1866, London (at Agricultural Hall, Islington) in 1876, and New York (also indoors, in the original Madison Square Garden) in 1883.
