Yoshiki Tanaka (Japanese: 田中 芳樹, Hepburn: Tanaka Yoshiki, born October 22, 1952) is a Japanese novelist. Early life and education [ edit ] He was born in Hondo , Kumamoto Prefecture and took his doctorate degree in Japanese Language and Literature in the Graduate School of Gakushūin University in Tokyo.
The series proper is based on a ten-novel series written by Yoshiki Tanaka, as well as a number of other shorter stories set in the same universe, collected in five Legend of the Galactic Heroes Gaiden volumes. It won the Seiun Award for "Best Novel of the Year" in 1988.
